I've always enjoyed piano rags (especially those of the great Joplin), and I have written several myself. Why ragtime appeals so much to me, I don't know - but writing a variant of it just seems to come naturally. There are a couple of examples in the Jukebox.
Several of my rags take the form of piano studies, designed to develop technique while having fun. But they are ragtime pieces first and foremost, and the technical side shouldn't get in the way of that.
I can also write in jazz, light-music and mainstream classical styles. You name it.
I have no plans, currently, to write soundtracks for home videos. But here is an amusing example of what can be done.
Gerbils II The Movie (the Gerbils are back and this time it's nibbly)
I have extensive experience of writing scores for the theatre and am always interested in considering similar projects. In practice, I think it would have to be a performance in my locality, as I would want to attend some rehearsals.
