Unusual Combinations

Special Groups

I became aware of the possibilities of composing for non-standard ensembles when I started working with the Absolute Zero Viola Quartet. For an unusual combination of instruments, there will simply be less music. In some cases, there may be none.

I have written three pieces for Absolute Zero - technically demanding music for professionals. I have also written music for amateur flute choir - keeping the parts simple while aiming for an interesting ensemble sound.

I am always happy to consider requests from similar groups. As I don't charge for composing, I tend to favour requests from groups which may not be unique. Saxophone Quartet? Certainly! Tuba Trio? Probably! Didgeridoo and Balinese Nose Flute? I'll have to get back to you on that...
